“I want to dedicate my win to my mom and dad in the village.”

These were the words of Adi Cakobau School Junior girls long distance runner, Maopa Tabualovoni after winning three gold medals in the Triple N Zone athletics meet today.

Tabualovoni was on cloud nine after winning the 1,500 metres open girls, 800 metres Junior girls and the 4x400 metres relay final.

The 15 year old from Solevu in Bua won a gold medal last year in the Coca-Cola games for Solevu Junior Secondary in the Junior girls 800 metres event and is hoping to bring back the lost glory for the Waimanu based school this year.


Meanwhile, the blue ribbon event was won by Samisoni Bai of Sila Central College with a time of 11.15 seconds while Elenoa Sailosi of ACS scooped the blue ribbon for the girls division with a time of 12.75 seconds.

Bai and Sailosi also won their 200 metres finals.

Sailosi earlier broke Makelesi Bulikiobo's 200 metres record with the new time of 25.50 seconds.

Bulikiobo's time of 25.78 seconds was set back in 1998.

Lelean Memorial School is leading the boy’s division medal tally with 9 gold, 11 silver and 2 bronze, Sila Central College is second with 5 gold, 4 Silver and 1 bronze while Waidina Secondary School is third with 2 gold.

Adi Cakobau School is leading the girl’s division medal tally with 15 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze, Sila Central College is second with 2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze while Rewa Secondary School is third with 2 gold.
