Tabakaucoro/Naivalu to faceoff in blue ribbon final
Marist Brothers High School's sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro and Suva Grammar's Lepani Naivalu have given a glimpse of things to come this afternoon after the star athletes cruised through their respective heats in the Senior boys 100 metres event in the Suva Zone two meet.
Tabakaucoro, who was disqualified in the Coke Games final last year showed that he means business as he equaled his Zone record clocking a time of 10.60 seconds.
His arch rival Naivalu cruised through his heat clocking 10.76 seconds to set the stage for the showdown in the 100 metres finals this afternoon.
Meanwhile last year's Coca Cola Games blue ribbon champion, Paulini Korowaqa of Suva Grammar School stopped the clock at 13 seconds in the 100 metres heats this morning, making her the favourite to win this afternoon.
In the senior boy’s 400 metres final, an upset was created when former Ba Provincial Freebird Institute student who is now in Marist, Ratu Tira came in first.
He beat Suva Grammar's Eroni Cagi and Marist's Roya Ravana.
In the 400 metres senior girls final, Suva Grammar's Makitalena Lokolokobuka took gold.

In the boys division, Marist lead with 11 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze while Suva Grammar is in second place with 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze, Rampur College is in third place with 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
In the girls division, Grammar lead with 5 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze while Rampur College is in second place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
Athletic Fiji coach, Albert Miller said the 100 metres senior boys final with top guns Banuve Tabakaucoro and Lepani Naivalu is also expected to be close this afternoon.
Miller said the boys division will be quite tight while Suva Grammar is likely to win the girl=s division.
