Fiji Secondary Schools top sprinter Banuve Tabakaucoro could have been forced to pull out from the World Youth Championships because of a hamstring injury.

But he is recovering well and going through rehabilitation in Australia every day, as he prepares for next week's Championships in Italy.

Athletics Fiji coach Albert Miller said Tabakaucoro is coming to his best form after he beat New Zealand and Australian athletes in the pre-competition build-up last night at the Gold Coast.

Miller said he will have another competition on Friday before departing for Italy.
