Marist Brothers High School sprinter Banuve Tabakaucoro did not take part in today's semifinal race at the World Youth Championships in Italy.

Tabakaucoro was listed to start from Lane 8 but according to the results this morning but he did not start his race.

The reason is not known at this stage but we believe that he may have pulled a hamstring injury in the heats which had troubled him before he left for Australia for the build-up.

Tabakaucoro qualified for the semifinals after setting the standard in the men’s 100 metres heats with an outstanding personal best of 10.70 seconds yesterday.

He was the only athlete from Fiji, taking part in the World Youth Championships.
