Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro claimed his second gold medal in the 200 metres at the Melanesia Games this afternoon but failed to qualify for the Olympics.
Tabakaucoro won the 200 metres final with a time of 21.12 seconds.
The qualifying time for the Olympics is 20.50 seconds.
He had set a new national record of 10.20 seconds in the 100 metres but still failed to meet the Olympic qualifying time of 10.16 seconds.
Meanwhile, the fastest woman in the pacific, PNG's Toea Wisil has qualified for the Rio Olympics after running 11.29 seconds in the 100 metres.
The Olympic qualifying time for the women's 100m is 11.32 seconds.
