Pacific Games champion Banuve Tabakaucoro has broken the 200m record of the Oceania Championships which is currently underway in Tahiti.

Tabakaucoro beat record holder Nelson Stone of Papua New Guinea with a new time of 21.08 seconds. 

The old record was 21.09 seconds.

The 21 year old's time is faster than his Pacific Games record of 21.18 seconds which he set in 2011.

Tabakaucoro will take part in the 100m heats with the finals later today.

Meanwhile, Coca-Cola Games sprint queen Sisilia Seavula did not qualify for the final of the 200m after coming in 8th place during her heat.

Jasper Williams High School athlete Mereseini Naidau finished in 3rd place during the women's 1,500 metres event. 

Marist student Simione Isimeli grabbed silver in the men's long jump today.
