Pacific Games, fastest man, Banuve Tabakaucoro has booked a spot in the 200 meter semifinal tomorrow after coming in home first in his heat with a time of 22.32 seconds.
Tabakaucoro's time is the 3rd fastest coming into the semifinal with Fiji's Isikeli Rokowaqa clocking the fastest time of 22.12 seconds while PNG's Nelson Stone time of 22.14 seconds.
In the girls division, PNG, Toil Wisil is again favorites with a time of 25.12 seconds in her heats.
Fiji's Paulini Korowaqa and Sisilia Seavula are also in the semifinal tomorrow.
In the athletics finals coming up this evening, Team Fiji will be aiming to collect close to six gold medals.
The Mens 400 meters final starts at 6.30pm where Beniamino Maravu, Niko Verekauta and Ratu Tira Narara will run for Fiji.
Maravu managed to get the best time for Fiji in the heats yesterday clocking 48.61 seconds with favorite, Nelson Stone of Papua New Guinea clocking 48.26 seconds.
The Women's 400 meters final kicks off at 6.20pm where 15 year old Danielle Alakija of Fiji has been tipped to give a strong performance.
Alakija clocked 57.96 seconds in the heats yesterday behind top favorite, Toea Wisil of Papua New Guinea who clocked a time of 56.95 seconds.
Suliana Gusuivalu and Miriama Senokonoko will also run in the 400 meters final.
In the field events at 6.20pm, Eugene Volmer will compete in the Long jump event.
The Fiji soccer team chances of reaching the final was denied by the Solomon Island side who beat them 2-1 in extra time this afternoon.
Fiji was leading 1-0 before Solomon Island equalized but a foul on James Naka in the extra time gave them the winning goal from the penalty spot.
Looking at the medal tally, New Caledonia is leading with 82 gold, 65 silver and 32 bronze while Tahiti is second with 36 gold, 28 silver and 24 bronze.
Fiji is third with 23 gold, 27 silver and 30 bronze.
