Marist Brothers High School sprint king, Banuve Tabakaucoro has bagged another Gold Medal for his school after dashing to Gold in the 200 metres finals in the senior boys division.
Tabakaucoro who was in Lane 4, took the lead just 150metres to the finish line beating Suva Grammar's Mataiasi Savou who had taken an early lead.
Tabakaucoro had moments earlier broken a 21 year old record in the 100 metres final with a time of 10.55 seconds in the finals while the old record set back in 1989 stood at 10.70 seconds also set by a former Marist brothers High School student.
Tabakaucoro clocked 10.55 seconds in the finals of the Blue ribbon event with the old recording set back in 1989 standing at 10.70mtrs also set by a former Marist Brothers High School student Samu Loiti.
Tabakaucoro who was running in Lane 2, faced strong competition from former 100m champion Mataiasi Savou who was in Lane 4 - what is regarded as the fastest lane on the track.
Speaking after the win Tabakaucoro said he is happy as it was his first year in the senior division.

In the Boys Division, Marist Brothers High School have a total of 17 Gold, 13 Silver and 11 bronze.
Suva Grammar School is second with 8 Gold, 10 Silver and 4 bronze while Rampur college from Navua are third with 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze.
In the Girls Division, Suva Grammar is in the lead with 11 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze, while Rampur College is third with 6 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 and third is Lomary Secondary with 5 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze.
A total of three records have fallen so far, the first in the morning to Suva Grammar=s Noela Taqai in the Senior Girls 1,500m, the second to another Suva Grammar student - Diama Marama who took part in the intermediate girls High Jump with a leap of 1.6m, the old record standing at 1.44m, with the recent record broken by Banuve Tabakaucoro in the 100m Senior Boys finals.
