Pacific sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro is aiming to break his own Pacific Games 200 metres record when he takes part in the 200m heats this hour.
Tabakaucoro had set a new Pacific Games 200 metres record with a time of 21.18 seconds in 2011 in New Caledonia.
Tabakaucoro’s personal best is 20.68secs and his main competitor will be PNG’S Nelson Stone who is running a personal best of 21.09s.
The women’s 200 metres heats will take place this hour and it will also feature Younis Bese and Sisilia Seavula.
The favourite in this event is Pacific Sprint Queen, Toea Wisil.
Wisil’s personal best in the 200 metres is 23.46 seconds and she will aim to break the Pacific Games record of 23.40 seconds which was set by Makelesi Bulikiobo in 2007.
In soccer, the Fiji Under 23 soccer team will face New Caledonia at 4.30pm in the second semifinal.
Tahiti will play PNG in the first semi-final this hour.
The Fiji Pearls will face Cook Islands at 7 tonight.
Looking at the Legend FM Pacific Games medal tally, Papua New Guinea is leading with 48 gold, 37 silver and 34 bronze. New Caledonia is in second place with 33 gold, 32 silver and 28 bronze.
Team Fiji is now in third place with 25 gold, 29 silver and 22 bronze.
