Improving the performance of students and schools is a key priority area and as a result, as of Monday this week, teachers are now to register with the Teacher Registration Board.
This has been confirmed by Minister Filipe Bole who said the TRB should provide a public safeguard for quality education and to stipulate high standards for professional education and entry to the teaching profession.
He said teachers will benefit from the registration process as it will ensure that their experience and qualifications are easily portable across existing boundaries between schools, school systems and countries.
Bole said the TRB should guarantee that qualified persons are competent to teach adding all teachers will be given three months to register.
