The Training and Productivity Authority of Fiji is finalising its plans for the New Year uptil 2016.

Director General, Jone Usamate said everything they are doing is to ensure they are addressing government's priority.

Usamate said TPAF survey in about 1000 companies shows that there are shortage of skills in all the technical areas including, mechanics, carpentry, welders etc.

He calls on the students in Secondary schools and Tertiary Institutions to carefully choose their subject and try and fill the technical areas as Fiji faces a severe shortage of skills.

Fiji is losing a lot of skilled workers to Australia, New Zealand, PNG and Guam who have migrated for better pay and living conditions and TPAF has increased their volume and quality of training.
