A decision is expected to be made this week on whether people should continue to take their tax identification numbers (TIN) to the banks.

This follows comments made by Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority Chief Executive Jitoko Tikolevu where he revealed that they were in talks to allow the banks to access their system and take the numbers directly from FRCA.

Association of Banks in Fiji Chairman Norman Wilson said that they had approached the banks as the deadline for the letters was the end of last month however people were yet to come forward.

He added that in a meeting with FRCA late last month, a proposal was put forward that would be customer friendly.
