The Post and Telecom Workers Union claims that its members working for Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) are being given instant dismissal letters as TFL proceeds with making 177 workers redundant.
According to Union General Secretary Attar Singh they cannot stop TFL from going ahead with the redundancies.
Singh also said that they will not know what redundancy packages are being offered to individual members until the redundancy exercise is completed.
The TFL Board of Directors met in Suva this morning and a statement on the redundancies is expected to be issued later today.
The Chief Tribunal has allowed Telecom Fiji Limited to proceed with its redundancy plans without having to give its workers a 30 day notice as required.
