TFL seeks further clarifications
TFL Marketing and Public Relations Manager Vanessa Kilner confirms that while work progresses on setting the new call charges after the reduction in interconnectivity rates announced by the Commission, there are certain aspects of the determination on which they need further clarification.
Kilner said once the information is received TFL will finalize the new rates and make a public announcement on how it will affect the consumers.
Commerce Commission Chairman Dr. Mahendra Reddy stressed that the announcement of the reduction of the wholesale interconnectivity call rates will now mean that players in the telecommunications industry will have to set their retail rates accordingly.
The changes announced for the landline termination rate saw the rate reduced to 7.9 cents from 9.9 cents per minute and at the end of three years will fall to 4.5 cents per minute.
Meanwhile, mobile phone operators Digicel and Vodafone are still working on setting their new retail rates before further announcements are made.
