TFL engineers to fix transmission lines
The Marketing and Public Relations Manager Vanessa Kilner said Telecom has hired a helicopter to see that their engineers are at these main sites to install, fix and secure transmission lines before going out to other places.
She said telephone services in Taveuni, Kioa, Rabi, Lomaloma and Cikobia are still affected due to damage sustained at the TFL Repeater Station on Des Voeux peak on Taveuni however she said Telecom Fiji wants its services back to normal as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, she said, telecommunication service to Udu Point, Lomaiviti and Lau group with the exception of Vanuabalavu have been restored with test calls being made to various places on the islands.
She said EasyTel and VT-Sat satellite services in Lakeba have been confirmed although some VTSat sites may be affected due to low power supply from the solar system as VT-Sat units are powered through solar panels that can last up to 3 days if fully charged.
Kilner said Internet and telephone services in Oneva and Savusavu were also restored yesterday.
