The eye of Tropical Cyclone Mick is slowly moving away from Viti Levu rapidly and heading towards the Southern Lau group.
Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said while the cyclone is moving away, the prospects of flooding in the Navua and Rewa river would remain over the next 8 hours.
Tropical cyclone Mick is now moving further away from Viti Levu.
On its current path, Tropical cyclone Mick is expected to be located about 140km South South East of Suva or about 95km East South East of Kadavu at around 6 o'clock tomorrow.
And as Tropical Cyclone Mick approaches the Kadavu waters, the villagers from Lagalevu village in Kadavu are experiencing the brunt of Cyclone Mick and are experiencing strong winds and heavy rain as we speak.
George O'Connor from Lagalevu confirmed that at the moment some houses have been destroyed but they will wait for daylight to see the extent of the damage in the village.
O'Connor added that most of the vegetation in the plantation have been badly destroyed and they are expecting the worst come daylight.
