It is highly likely that Tropical Cyclone Gene is very close to Rakiraki.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Rajendra Prasad said the centre of the cyclone is just above Rakiraki.
Prasad also said with the high tide at about 11:38 tonight, flooding of the major rivers in Viti Levu is now highly likely.
The Rewa River is rising rapidly and DISMAC Operations center in the area is advising people in the Rewa delta area to brace themselves for flash flooding.
Provincial Administrator Luke Maraivalu confirms that some villagers are moving to the designated evacuation centers.
He also confirms that people living along the coastal areas in Beqa are now facing very high seas and have moved to higer ground.
It has stopped raining in Rakiraki however, they are experiencing strong winds.
A resident Sanjeet Maharaj said some areas are now flooded.
