Tropical Cyclone Gene will now head towards Tavua, Ba, Lautoka and Nadi as it continues in a South Westerly direction.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Rajendra Prasad said residents of these areas should not be complacent if they are experiencing calm conditions at this stage.
Prasad also said people living in Suva, Navua, Nausori and Korovou should also be prepared.
Several evacuation centers are now activated in the central Division and DISMAC Officer Aisea Guminakelo confirms that they have been receiving calls from people are are not feeling safe in their homes.
Guminakelo also confirms that all the evacuation centers in the Rewa area are occupied due to rising flood waters and strong winds causing damages to several homes in the Rewa delta.
DISMAC is trying to get confirmation on the number of people who are at the various evacuation centers.
