Suva wins FMF Chow Games for 7th time in a row
The Capital City side received stiff competition from Nadroga/Navosa in the two day meet but experience and sheer determination won the title for Suva.
In the boys division, Suva grabbed 11 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze followed by Nadroga/Navosa with 8 gold, 2 silver and 7 bronze while in third place was Kadavu with 4 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.
In the girls division, Suva scooped 15 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze, in second place was Nadi who won 6 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze while Nadroga/Navosa grabbed 5 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze to book third spot.
Suva coach Lasarusa Senibale said their proper planning and development was the force behind their success.
Meanwhile, three records were also broken today.
In the girls Under 13 shot put, Meiva Naqiri of Ba got a throw of 11.39 meters and dethroned the old record of 11.30 meters set in 2003.
Records tumbled four times in the girls Under 14 shot put event this morning but the final say went to Sabeto District schools class eight student, Kasanita Nai who broke the record with a throw of 13.91 meters.
And the last record was broken in the Under 14 girls 800 meters where Merewai Cumu of Nadi set the new record of 2.25 seconds.
The old record was set in 1987 of 2.26.60 seconds by Sereseini Savui of Ba/Tavua/Vatukoula.
