Suva wins Chow games
Speaking to Legend FM sports, Team Suva President, Lasarusa Senibale said that compared to other years, Suva had to really work hard, as competition was stiff from the other districts.
Meanwhile, earlier today the Games Committee also confirmed that Sekove Tuilevu of Suva has broken the record in the Under-13 Boys Long Jump, after breaking the Old record set by Banuve Tabakaucoro in 2005 at 5.6 meters, and set a New Record of 5.74 meters.
Suva also broke the record in the Under-13 Girls 4*100 setting a new time of 51.94 seconds, the Old Record stood at 52.50 seconds set by Suva 2 in 1996.
Senibale said the team management were confident the team would deliver.
However, the Under-13 Boys 4*100 meters relay team who were leading the race, dropped their baton at the last change
and Senibale said that things like that do happen, but they have dealt with it, and will just have to move on.
Other records that were broken at the FMF Chow Games 2009, Alesi Ranadi of Cakaudrove equaled the record in the Under 9 girls long jump, the old record set by Litia Vosadina of Lautoka in 2004.
Katarina Sova from Taveuni/Qamea broke the Under 14 girls 400 meters record in the heats after she ran the race in 1min 1.05 seconds and the old time stands at 1min 1.3secs set by Temalesi Marama of Ra in 2006.
