It has been a long 52 year wait for two prestigious sporting trophy’s to finally be back in Suva.
It was in 1960 when the Suva rugby team beat Rewa 27-3 to win the Farebrother Sullivan Challenge and in the same year Suva soccer team beat Nadi 2-1 to win the Lloyd Farebrother trophy in the Inter District Championship.
This is the reason the sporting fraternity in Suva is coming together to have a grand celebration to honor and salute the achievements.
The achievements of Suva’s sporting teams does not stop with just rugby and soccer but extends to Suva netball, hockey and cricket as the teams won their respective annual meets this year.
Suva City Special Administrator, Chandu Umaria said in two weeks time the Capital City will come to a standstill as they are now liaising with sponsors and corporate bodies to make this celebration one to remember.
