Suva soccer rep, Lavneel Pratap passed away at the Lautoka hospital last night after a short illness.
23 year old Pratap who was from Varadoli Ba joined the Suva team in March this year.
His father, Bimal Pratap told Fijivillage that he has lost his only son.
He said earlier this week Lavneel returned from Suva after lodging his application to go to New Zealand to play for Suva in the Pacific Cup later this month.
Pratap said he had fever earlier this week and had collapsed on Thursday and was taken to the hospital.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Suva soccer president, Mahendra Prasad said they are deeply sad as Lavneel was one of their finest players.
Lavneel's funeral details will be announced later.
