Suva claims IDC title at home after a lapse of 31 years

Suva managed to claim the prestigious Courts IDC win in front of their home fans after a lapse of 31 years.

The hosts managed to beat arch rivals Nadi 1-0 in extra spell at the ANZ Stadium.

Former Nadi player Napolioni Qasevakatini scored the winner in the second spell of extra time after both teams were locked at nil all

The Capital City side played with 10 men after sweeper Kolinio Sivuki was shown the red card in the second half.

Coach Gurjeet Singh dedicated the win to all their fans.

Suva last won the IDC title at their home ground in 1983.

Suva defeated Lautoka 2-1 in the semifinal while Nadi beat Nadroga 3-0 in the second semifinal.

The capital city side last won the Court IDC title in 2012 at Govind Park.

Suva’s Pita Rabo won the Golden Boot Award while Nikhil Chand of Suva won the Best Player of the Tournament.
