The Suva City Council is in the process of selling four properties to recover rate in arrears amounting to thousands of dollars.

Spokesperson, Jillian Hicks said these four ratepayers are major defaulters who did not clear their rates for many years.

She adds the council is in the process of seeking approval from the courts before these properties are sold.

Hicks said this is a reminder to other ratepayers who owe rates, to make arrangements with the Council to clear their rates.

The Council is also reminding ratepayers through the media and having their messages on billboards to pay rates to avoid losing their property.

Ratepayers of Suva owe the council over $10 million in outstanding rates.
