Suva Retains FMF Chow Games Title
After the completion of the last event, Suva in the boys division made a clean sweep from Under 9 to under 14 grades while in the Girls Suva missed out in the Under 9 and Under 11 grades but won the Under 10, Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 grades.
The official medal tally in the boys division sees Suva in first place with 24 gold, 16 silver and 5 bronze. Lautoka finished in second place with 5 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze. Taveuni/Qamea combined were in third place with 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.
In the Girls division Suva finished in first place with 16 gold, 13 silver and 4 bronze. Lautoka in second place with 6 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze while Taveuni/Qamea combined lied in third place with 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.
Meanwhile Stella Marist student Willmar Cawi was one of the best performer FMF Chow Games after she won 2 gold medals in the Under 13 Girls 4x100 metres relay final and in the Long Jump where she also set a new record of 5.29 metres. The old record stood at 4.95 metres set in 2003.
Cawi who also won a silver medal in the 100 metres says she's happy what she has achieved this year.
It was last year for Cawi to compete at the Games as from next year she will be going to secondary school and has already set her sight for the Coke Light Games. She was even more delighted to help Suva district retain the title in the girls division.
