The Suva City Council's renovations of the Suva Market are on track to be completed in April.

Director Engineer Jagdish Singh said the $65,000 renovation has seen the removal of all the asbestos in mid December last year with the new roof completed just last week. He said they saved a lot by using most of their in house staff that were trained to carry out most of the renovation work.

Singh said the removal of the asbestos will mean a safer environment for the vendors and people to come and do their shopping. He adds they also have plans to repaint the market, and repair the footpath outside the market.
