A Suva lawyer supports the move by the new Fiji Law Society (FLS) office bearers to seek an audience with the Acting Chief Justice and the interim Attorney General on why the ruling in the case filed by ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase against the interim government is taking so long.
Rajendra Chaudhry said this is a good move as the previous President Isireli Fa initiated no such move with the interim government.
In a statement released earlier, former Society President Isireli Fa said he had sent his apologies to the meeting as he had personal commitments.
Chaudhry also added the poor turnout at the Society AGM was an indication that members were not interested.
Fa had also said in the statement that his leadership has been the most innovative and progressive of any leadership of the Society in the past and to see evidence of this, one just had to look at the Annual Report.
