Three suspended councilors of Nadi Town Council claiming their suspension was unlawful, are still awaiting a reply from the Interim Local Government Minister.

Suspended councilor Sanjeet Patel said a full council meeting was not held as there was no quorum in the past three months, so the decision by the CEO Robin Ali to suspend them is not correct.

Patel stressed that under the local government, a councilor can be suspended if he or she misses three consecutive sittings of the council.

According to Patel, they want the interim minister to make a decision on their fate.

Sanjeet Patel and two other councilors, Dharmesh Motiram and Liliana Keith Reid, were barred from attending Nadi mayoral elections last Wednesday.

Timoci Koroiqica was elected mayor of Nadi on 12th July.
