Customs officers have seized a container of bottled substances at the Lautoka Port suspected to contain a controlled substance under the Illicit Drugs Act.

Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority chief executive Jitoko Tikolevu said the interception has been part of an intelligence combined targeting operation between the Customs and the Police Trans-National Crime Unit.

Tikolevu said FIRCA has handed over the case to the police for further investigations.

He stated that the container of bottled substances was consigned to a Lautoka based company.

Assistant police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that investigations are now underway.
