Hospitals and Health Centres around the country have adopted a surveillance system which can see fast detection of the outbreak of diseases.

The World Health Organisation representative in the South Pacific, Doctor Jacob Kool said the system is working well in Fiji.

He said doctors only have to report for Diarrheoa, Influenza like illness, acute fever and rash and Prolonged Fever.

He said the report is sent to the Health Ministry's Mataika House which makes it easier for the health officials to know whether there is an epidemic outbreak.
