Surprise Leaders in Coca Cola Light games
Upsets in the field event saw a number of medals slip away from Marist Brothers High School to see Lelean Memorial School and Xaveir College from Ba take a lead in the boys division.
Looking at the Fijivillage Medal Tally, in the boys division Lealean and Xavier college are tied at first with 2 gold, and one bronze each, Ratu Kadavulevu Secondary school is second with one gold, 2 silver and one bronze, while Marist Brothers is third with 1 gold, 1 silver and one bronze.
Grammar, Nadarivatu Secondary, DAV College of Ba Gospel High, Kadavu provincial and LDS all have one gold each.
In the girls division, ACS leads with 3 gold and one bronze, while Lelean, Suva Grammar, Bucalevu Secondary and Labasa College and DAV college Ba are tied at second place with a gold each.
Five records have been broken so far in day one. Kereleini Tabusoro of Lelean Memorial school set a new record in the Inter girls discuss with a throw of 34.13 meters while the old record stood at 32.92 meters.
Another record was broken by Suva Grammar school's Makalesi Tumalevu in the Senior girls long jump. Tumalevu jumped 5.90 meters to break the record she set last year which was 5.56 meters.
In the inter girls 200 meters heats, Paulini Korowaqa of Balentine Memorial school set a new record with a time of 25.16 seconds. The old record was held by Suva Grammar Miriama Radiniwaimaro.
And Natabua's Secondary schools, Isoa Me has set two new records. The first in the Inter boys 400 meter heats setting a new record of 49.92 and he also set a new record in the Inter boys 200 heats. Me ran in a time of 22 second flat to break the record set by Grammar Matavei Telawa which stood at 22.15 seconds.
