Winning All Blacks Rugby World Cup Captain, Richie McCaw and lock, Brad Thorn were stars that the Fiji Sports Council and FASANOC were eyeing to get for their sports-awards next Friday but their busy schedule has ruled them out.

This was revealed in the press conference today where Sports Council, CEO, Litiana Loabuka said that talks were already held between these two great All Blacks players but the date and timing of the awards did not work out well with their schedule.

McCaw is still recovering from his surgery while Thorn has just started his club commitment in Japan.

New Zealand 7s rugby coach, Gordon Tietjens will be the Guest Speaker next Friday.

The announcement was made today that Tietjens who is a well known 7s coach in the IRB 7s series will be in the country next week.

The NZ 7s mentor has been guiding his side from 1994 winning four Commonwealth gold medals, 6 IRB 7s series titles since it started in 2000 and he was also the New Zealand Rugby Union Coach of the Year for 2010.

He was also named the NPC coach of the Year in 2000.

The Fiji Sports-awards night will take place next Friday.
