The Supervisor of Elections, Felicity Heffernan, met with a team from the United Nations earlier this week, who are here on an exploratory mission for discussions with various stakeholders that will eventually lead to finding a mutually agreeable way forward on the Political situation in Fiji.
However, Heffernan stressed to the delegation that the Elections office remains A-Political, adding that the team along with the Elections Office enjoyed exceptionally constructive dialogue.
The team which consisted of Tamara Murer an Associate Political Affairs officer, Yash Ghai a Senior Technical Advisor, Tamrat Samuel Head of the Mission who is also Deputy-Director of the Asia Pacific Division of the Department of Political Affairs, made it evident they were looking forward to Fiji's continued efforts to hold elections as soon as possible.
The UN team will be in the country for the next few weeks.
