It appears Television Match Officials will be able to rule on aspects of play leading up to tries being scored in this year's Super Rugby competition.

SANZAR have reportedly expanded the powers of the TMO so they can now judge on things like forward passes in the build up to a try.

However, they can only go back two breakdowns in making decisions.

The TMO also cannot rule on possible offences at the breakdown, such as a player coming in from the side.

The Super Rugby season kicks off next month.
