The Legal Aid Commission Board has appointed Sunil Sharma as their new Director Legal Aid.

Chairman of the Board, Christopher Pryde made this appointment following a board meeting last week.

Sharma said he will now focus on in-house skills training to better the services delivered.

A particular area he will be focusing on is the areas of family law and criminal law as under the Family Law Act, their duty lawyer scheme will now focus on Family law matters, as in the past the in-house solicitors used to handle only criminal matters.

Sharma has been acting in the position since May 2009.
