The Local Government Association believes the call for Sunday Ban is uncalled for as Fiji will move backwards if it is imposed.
Association President and Nasinu Mayor Rajeshwar Kumar, said the Church's call will in no way assist Fiji's economy to improve.
According to Kumar, the association is expected to meet on the 11th of next month and they will only discuss this issue in their meeting once a proposal is received.
Meanwhile, Methodist Church of Fiji Assistant General Secretary, Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, said the church will stand by their statement to have a Sunday Ban in place.
However, Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama stressed that the Methodist Church's proposed ban on Sunday trading for all towns and cities will not go ahead as majority of the people in the country oppose the idea.
Commodore Bainimarama said the church executives are just going backwards by calling for the Sunday ban.
