Sugarcane growers in Rakiraki are frustrated with the Fiji Sugar Corporation and fertilizing suppliers, South Pacific Fertilisers for the length of time taken to supply fertilizers.
Farmers from Malau Sector, one of the four sectors within Penang Mill which supplies close to 52 percent of sugar cane supply to the Mill, have been waiting for long for their supply.
According to Malau sector councilor, Mahesh Prasad it has been close to two months now.
The farmers in the sector had ordered 40 loads of fertilizer but have only received 19 loads.
Prasad adds that farmers have continually been blamed for the lack of cane supply but they do not realize that such delays are the cause of the decreased supply.
South Pacific Fertilisers is expected to comment later on the issue.
