In preparation for the upcoming cane harvesting season the sugarcane farmers will be getting a special cane payment soon.
Sugarcane Growers Council Chairman, Jain Kumar has confirmed this however he said he would comment further after having a meeting with officials of the Fiji Sugar Corporation and other sugar stakeholders later today.
Kumar said discussions on the way forward for the sugar industry will be held today.
Meanwhile, Penang Mill in Rakiraki will start crushing on 19th of this month, Labasa mill on 28th May, largest sugar mill Lautoka on 19th June and Rarawai mill will begin crushing on 24th June.
