The Sugarcane Growers Council has revealed that there will be a huge decline in sugar production this year as over $25 million worth of sugarcane has been damaged by floods last month.
Chairman Jain Kumar said following their assessments, they have found out that over 5,000 cane farmers in the western and northern division have been directly affected.
The SCGC also said they would be grateful for any help that is forthcoming from the interim government.
