The Sugarcane Growers Council has confirmed that an estimate of 2.8 million tonnes of sugarcane was expected to be produced this year however this figure will be quite low.

Meanwhile, Fiji Sugar Corporation acting Chief Executive Deo Sharan has confirmed that they have also done their own assessments on the damaged cane and their report is expected to be released later today. He refused to reveal the amount of export revenue.

The Sugar Commission and Fiji Sugar Marketing could not be reached for comments.
