Sugar, Mineral water exports continue to decline
Total exports for August stood at $122.1 million with domestic exports at $85.8 million.
Total imports however, show that the huge trade imbalance continues with imports for August standing at $231 million.
The figures show that exports to all major trading partners decreased with exports to the UK down $31.7 million, due to decreased exports of sugar.
Exports to the US was down by $14.4 million due to decreased exports of mineral water, exports to Australia decreased by $10.5 million due to reduced exports of sweet biscuits, garments and gold.
Imports from our major trading partners also decreased in August.
For Singapore, imports were down by $56.2 million due to the decrease in the import value and quantity of motor spirit, industrial diesel oil and residual fuel oil.
Imports from Australia, and China also recorded decreases, while imports from New Zealand increased in August by $3.5 million.
