The National Farmers Union believes it will be a good idea to establish a sugar mill in Seaqaqa as proposed by the Interim Government.

According to NFU Chairman Jain Kumar farmers in the Seaqaqa area are able to produce enough cane to require a mill in the area.

Interim Sugar Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry said stakeholders are carrying out a feasibility study to determine the viability of setting up a factory in Seaqaqa.

He revealed earlier that it would cost around US$40 to $50 million to construct the sugar mill.
