Residents in Tavua have been without water since early this morning and the Water Authority if Fiji confirmed that this is a result of a sudden power shutdown by FEA.

Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said that the shutdown affected their booster pump at the Masimasi reservoir in Tavua and as a result people staying in Malele, Balata, Korovou, Rabulu, and Mataniwai have been without water since 10am.

Nagalu said that at the moment they cannot say when water will be back as FEA has not mentioned anything at all.

Meanwhile, a sudden shutdown of a valve in Davuilevu last night left many people living in Koronivia without water supply.

However, Authority Executive Joe Cava said that this was to allow for water level to increase at the Wainibuku Reservoir so that consumers living in the area supplied from that system receive water in the morning.
