The Fiji Prisons and Correctional service has recorded a significant decrease with its reoffending rate.
Inspector General Orisi Katonivau Vuki said in the past years the Fiji prisons services was plagued with the problem of fluctuating re-offending rates, however they have managed to reduce it to 30 per cent last year.
Vuki added that they are trying to maintain the decrease is through training and up skilling.
Meanwhile, yesterday the Police and Prison Commissioner Brigadier Iowane Naivalurua signed a contract together with Modern Investment Business Company which will see the construction of a coffee shop and conference room at the prison for women at Korovou which will the public can access and hire.
Works is expected to be completed by December and business will commence by next year.
