As we enter the final day of competition at the 2017 Coca-Cola Games, Adi Cakobau School is leading the Girls Division Legend FM medal tally with 9 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze. 

Defending champion Jasper Williams High School is in second place with 5 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze while Saint Joseph’s Secondary School is third with 3 gold and 4 bronze.

Marist Brothers High School is leading the Boys Division with 7 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze. 

Ratu Kadavulevu School is in second place with 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze while Natabua High School is third with 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.

Fijivillage has received confirmation this morning that the Sub Junior Boys 100 metres final will be re-run today after the 800 metres Intermediate Boys final at 11.10am. 

Elia Kolivuso of Suva Grammar school won gold in Sub Junior Boys 100 metres event and broke the record with a time of 11.48secs. 

Sekope Puamau of Jai Narayan College took silver and Saiasi Lesukinavuli of Ratu Kadavulevu took home bronze.

Another race that will also be re-run today is the second Senior Boys 4x400m relay heat. 

Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics General Secretary Vuli Waqa has confirmed that a technical issue is the reason the Sub Junior Boys 100 metres final will be re-run. 

He adds that one of the schools had filed an appeal, however the reason for the second Senior Boys 4x400m heats re-run is unknown.

Grammar Manager Koroi Matadigo confirms that the winning athlete from Grammar, Elia Kolivuso will boycott the re-run.

Vuli Waqa has also confirmed that Jasper has also filed a protest in relation to the Intermediate Girls 400 metres final, that was won by Saint Joseph’s Heleina Young.

According to the Jasper Manager, the matter is with the jury and they have not received a response. 

ACS athlete, Elenani Tinai pushed Jasper’s Akanisi Sokoiwasa during the race.

Wainibuka Junior Secondary has scooped two gold medals this morning.

Atama Vunibola of Wainibuka Junior Secondary powered through the final 100 metres of the 3000 metres Open Boys Final to win gold. 

Ratu Kadavulevu School’s Viliame Salusalu settled for silver while Mohammed Ali of Kamil College lost his lead but kept going strong to win bronze. 

The 3000 metres Open Girls gold medal was won by Camari Adilasaqau of Wainibuka Junior Secondary, the silver medal was won by Vani Loloma of Adi Cakobau School and the bronze medal was taken by Vika Tuilomana of Adi Cakobau School.

Looking at the 100m finals last night:

Shane Tuvusa of Natabua High School is the Blue Ribbon champion.

Tuvusa has dedicated his win to his family saying that their collective support was his main motivation to win the gold medal.

He says he is happy to have started his love for athletics in the west and also end in the west on a high note.

Tony Lemeki of Marist Brothers High School won the silver medal and Lelean’s Netani Vakayalia won the bronze medal.

One of the blue ribbon event favourites, Keasi Naidroka of Marist Brothers pulled a hamstring in the final.

And in the Intermediate Boys 100 metres final, Joseva Tabakaucoro of Marist and Tyrone Chambers of Natabua ran a very tight race with Tabakaucoro edging his opponent from the west to win gold and Chamber having to settle for the silver medal.

Tabakaucoro says the rain encouraged him to perform better than expected.

He has dedicated the win to Marist athlete Keasi Naidroka.

Tabakaucoro’s time was 11.06 seconds while his older brother, Banuve Tabakaucoro’s record is 10.71 seconds set back in 2009. 

Malasebe Tuvusa of Suva Grammar School won the bronze medal.

Adi Cakobau School’s Makereta Naulu won the Intermediate Girls 100 metres beating Heleina Young of Saint Joseph’s Secondary School who settled for silver.

Taraivini Tane of Adi Cakobau School won the bronze medal.

Marist Brothers High School’s Waisea Nakavu broke the Junior Boys 100m record running a time of 11.04secs to win the gold medal.

Suva Grammar School’s Jacob Waqanivalu held the previous record of 11.10secs set in 2011.

Kolinio Radrudru of Queen Victoria School won silver and Nemani Mudreilagi of Natabua High School won bronze.

Jasper Williams’ Salote Baravilala finished strongly in the Junior Girls 100m final to win gold.

Natabua High School’s Braeylynn Yee won silver while Louisa Tubuilagi won the bronze medal.

Jasper Williams High School’s Livia Nabulo broke the Sub Junior Girls record with a time of 12.28secs to win gold.

Jessie Vakaloloma of Adi Cakobau held the old record of 12.74secs set in 2015.

Adi Cakobau School’s Marica Korovulavula won silver while Maraia Musu of Navosa Central College takes home bronze.

In the 400m final:

In the Sub Junior girls 400m final, after a close finish Adi Cakobau School’s Ulamila Koroisavou won gold.

Vilorina Naibena of Namosi Secondary settled for silver, Losana Musuvanua of Jasper took the bronze.

Sub Junior 400m boys favourite Richard Elder of Marist Brothers high School broke the record to win gold with a run of 54.25secs.

He says he was not expecting to win because he sprained his ankle on Monday and the team doctor told him that it would not heal in time.

Elder has dedicated the win to his aunty and sister.

The old record set of 55.30secs in 2015 was held by Rhys Cheer of Sigatoka Valley High School and Sakeasi Kaitu of Suva Grammar School.

Saint Johns College’s Simione Koliloa won silver, and William Ratunisaqaleka of QVS won Bronze.

Adi Cakobau School’s Serania Ragatu came out strong to win gold in the Junior Girls 400m and Ana Kaitoga also of ACS took silver, while Virisila Radovu of Natabua High School took home bronze.

400m Junior Boys hopeful, Douglas Matakibau of Natabua High School has won gold, Vilikesa Tove of Cuvu College took silver and Queen Victoria School’s Sakeasi Korowale settled for bronze.

Saint Joseph Secondary School’s Heleina Young kept her calm and took home gold after a tough tussle between Elenani Tinai of Adi Cakobau who won silver and Jasper William’s Akanisi Sokoiwasa who and to settle for the Bronze medal.

Kameli Sauduadua of RKS kept his lead to claim gold in the Intermediate Boys 400m final, Dudley High School’s Melkizedekh Katafono won silver, and Osea Baleinamau of Queen Victoria won bronze.

Jasper Williams’ Meresiana Vukici dominated in the Senior Girls 400m finishing strongly to win gold.

Filomena Balobalo of Adi Cakobau School won silver and Adi Cakobau’s Seinimili Maisamoa took the bronze medal.

Ratu Kadavulevu Schools’ Sailosi Tubuilagi looked effortless striding strongly around in the last 200m bend to win gold in the 400m senior boys final.

Queen Victoria Schools’ Apolsoi Koroi and Pita Katalau pushed each other to win silver and bronze respectively.

Maia Ramsden of International School Suva is the top favourite to win the Junior Girls 800m final after breaking a record in the heats today.

Ramsden ran a time of 2 mins 16.47secs, the previous record 2mins 23.02secs set by Sereima Liku of Nadarivatu High School in 2009.

Ramsden says this is her final year to run in the Coca-Cola Games and to get another time like that would be a great way to see off her final year.

The 800m final will start at 10.40am today while the 200m final will start at 11.40am.

50 medals will be up for grabs in the final day of competition of the Coca-Cola Games.
