The Ministry of Public Service will still go ahead with the sub contracting of essential public services although the Public Employees Union strike was called off yesterday.
Interim Minister for Public Service, Poseci Bune confirms that the ministry has always considered this as part of their sector reform programme.
The Sub Contracting was seen as a contingency plan by the Ministry to ensure that services was provided during the strike by affliates of the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions.
The Ministry had placed an advertisment calling for tenders for various services that would be contracted out. The call for expressions of interest ended on Monday.
