Results of a survey has revealed over 30% of students are sexually active whilst in boarding school.

This is what Coordinator Sister Sala Duvaga told the participants of the three day Training Workshop on Adolescent Health Development held at the Fiji Nurses Association Hall in Suva, and stressed the need to train more students to take up the role of peer educators.

Duvaga said in a joint effort between the Health Ministry and Nasinu Secondary School, a survey carried out with students showed many were getting involved in drugs, underage drinking, and many were sexually active, and what is more worrying is that all of this was happening within the school compound.

Duvaga said following the training of some students to carry out the role of peer educators, they noticed a significant change.
