Over 300 primary school students from 11 schools from around Suva gathered at the Suva Civic Centre to celebrate Childrens Day this morning.
The Children who marched from the Suva Flea Market to the Civic Centre were once again reminded by the Minister for Education under the new Legal Order, Filipe Bole of how important their day was as they were the foundation of a country.
Bole stresses that Fiji was a signatory to the Geneva Convention and this would ensure that the right of a child is protected. This follows the revelation by the Ministry of Education that from 2008 there were over 341 reports of abuse against children.
The theme for the celebration is "Uniting Fiji through Children".
