More than 100 students of a boarding school in Labasa are trying to find means to pay their hostel fees.
Labasa College School Principal, Brij Mohan told Fijivillage news that they have students from all over Vanua Levu, Udu Point, Savusavu and nearby islands who were affected by Hurricane Tomas and are facing difficulties in paying their hostel fees.
Mohan said they believe the government should look at subsidizing hostel fees for needy students.
Meanwhile, Save the Children Fiji managed to supply stationary to more than 30 schools affected by Hurricane Tomas on Friday , just before school broke for the first term holidays.
Chief Executive Officer, Chandra Shekhar said there were a number of challenges faced by the staff while distributing books.
