Fiji gained independence 39 years ago however it is a concern that many students do not know the national anthem.
The Education Ministry is still unaware how many schools perform flag raising ceremonies and how many students know how to sing the national anthem.
The Ministry's media office said they sent a circular to all the schools in the country earlier this year informing them they should have flag raising ceremonies and students should learn how to sing the national anthem, however, the ministry received no feedback from the divisional education offices.
A few schools around the country have flag poles and the Fiji flag is seen flying in their compound.
